I want to talk to you for a few minutes about eternity, both the length of it, and one of two possible destinations that every individual WILL arrive at someday. I am going to do something a bit unusual by sharing this article across every single platform that I have access to, including my devotion groups, because, although YOUR eternity may be secure, you know people who are going to wind up in hell for all of eternity.
The first thing that I want us to focus on is the unending length of eternity. I want you to imagine that you are tasked with the job of moving the Pacific Ocean into the Grand Canyon. Practically impossible task initially, but there are two rules that I haven’t told you about yet.
1) You can only use a teaspoon to transfer the water from the ocean to the canyon.
2) You are not allowed to use any type of vehicle. You can only walk.
You can easily see the absolutely unending task would be completely unachievable, which is the point. And when you DID get the task finished, you will have only just begun eternity. I want you to really think about this for a minute, really grasp it. You may very well say that this is fabulous news, and it may very well be for you, but what about your family member who is not going to heaven? Have you taken time to consider what THEIR eternity is going to be? Brings me to the second point that I want to make.
Think about this scenario for a minute. You’re laying in bed, knowing that you are about to die. You’ve said your goodbyes, and you close your eyes for the last time, fully expecting to open them to see the face of Jesus. Instead, you see only darkness, and you are suddenly aware of the pain coursing through your entire body. Every single part of you is burning, and you feel the pain of fire, like someone is holding your hand over an open flame, except this is throughout your entire body. Your mind races to all of those times when you KNEW that you were not actually in relationship with Jesus, and you kept telling yourself that you would get right with Jesus tomorrow. You eventually got to the point that you didn’t have the same burden to get right, and you just assumed that you were ok, that Jesus knew your heart and you were somehow right with God. What a mistake you made! And now it was too late! You will never get another chance, because only in life can you choose. And that’s the worst part: knowing that you wasted your life on empty, meaningless endeavors that only made your life easier on earth, but in no way prepared you for eternity. You think about your friend/family member/random person on the street who tried to tell you that you needed to give it all to Jesus, but you blew them off, much like the nudges from the Holy Spirit letting you know that something was wrong. And then the realization hits you: this pain, both physical and emotional, will never, ever end. You will endure this pain and these tortuous thoughts for all of eternity.
It is my sincere prayer that you are never confronted with this scenario. But you need to realize that your loved ones, your family and friends, ARE going to face this if nothing is done to reach them. Are you content with allowing them to suffer this fate without doing WHATEVER you can to reach them before it’s too late? Remember that you may very well be the last opportunity for salvation that they have. Don’t throw it away!
I have intentionally tried to make you feel uncomfortable with this article, but I have only done so because I have a responsibility before God to warn everyone that I can and wake as many as I can to the very real danger of apathy. Please, please don’t allow yourself to get to the point that you are no longer moved by reading scenarios such as the one that I have portrayed to you. Remember that I love you guys and I’m praying for you.
THE CHRISTIAN WARRIOR’S CREED
(anonymous)
I am a soldier in the army of Jesus Christ, the King of the universe.
He came to this earth, walked, ministered, suffered, bled, and was executed for my sins.
Three days later, He arose victorious over death, and He has been giving Life to all those who call on His Name since.
I have given my entire life, existence, and all of my hope to Jesus Christ, and He has changed my life dramatically, giving hope and a purpose where there was neither.
My Savior has an enemy, and that enemy is also my enemy. His name is satan, and he has many warriors on his side.
Jesus has few who are willing to serve Him, and even fewer who are willing to become true warriors for Him. I have decided, because Jesus gave everything for me, that I will do likewise for Him. I am a warrior in my Savior’s Army.
Because I have held nothing back, Jesus has decided to take it all, and anything that is not profitable for a warrior, has been or is being removed. This is a painful process, but so worth the cost. My life is not my own, and He has the right to do with me as He pleases.
I am first and foremost a warrior for Christ. That means that I am nothing else ahead of a warrior. My wants, desires, dreams, aspirations are all subject to the scrutiny, evaluation, and Will of my Lord and King, Jesus, and anything that does not meet His approval, has to be removed from my life.
I am a (insert surname here) by family name, but I am first and foremost a warrior for my Lord and King, Jesus.
I am a (insert occupation here) by trade, but I am first and foremost a warrior for my Lord and King, Jesus.
I am a (man/woman) by virtue of Divine Appointment, but I am first and foremost a warrior for my Lord and King, Jesus the Christ.
This means that nothing in my life, nothing, ever takes precedence over the Perfect Will of Jesus Christ in my life. Not family, not a career, nothing.
I have made the decision to give it all for my Savior, Jesus, and He has decided to break, make, and mold me into a warrior He can use to cripple His enemy’s efforts, destroy His enemy’s strongholds, and defeat His enemy’s armies. The only way that I can be that effective warrior for Him, is to never ever hold back anything from His Divine Will, Divine Use, and, if necessary, Divine Disposal.
So, you see, my friends, you can call me what you want, but the only thing important to me anymore is to hear my Lord and King say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” And I will do whatever it takes, pay whatever cost, give up whatever is required, to reach that pinnacle, so that at the end of my life, I will know that I didn’t waste it all.
In Christ,
Roger Lindsey
