I want to talk to you for a little while and give you five reasons why the Lord Jesus gave us the covenant of marriage. (I will number them as I go.)

1) The first three reasons are all directly related to the three purposes of sex. The first one is so that man can have a unique relationship with another individual (of the opposite sex) for the purpose of personal companionship and personal fulfillment.

2) The second reason for marriage is so as to procreate and repopulate the earth.

3) The next reason why God gave man marriage is because marriage and the nuclear family are designed to be a beautiful picture of the unique relationship between God and man.

4) A fourth reason why the Lord God gave us marriage is because Jesus created us to be visual and sexual creatures, so, in order for us to have a safe, God-ordained outlet to express these things, He gave us marriage.

5) The fifth and final reason why God gave man marriage is because marriage is designed specifically to provide protection to people who are left alone in the world by our corrupt societies and to show those individuals that they are wanted and needed in life. Let me explain what I am talking about. Many married people will admit that without their spouse, they would be totally abandoned and alone in the world. God knew that this would happen, and I believe that this is one of the major reasons why marriage was given to man.

There they are: five reasons why God gave us the covenant of marriage. Let me know if you can think of any others. Remember that I love you guys and I’m praying for you.
